VAN NUYS, Calif.– Los Angeles FCU has relocated a new branch, while its staff has helped to feed people at a homeless shelter, while providing other support, as well.
LAFCU has relocated its Van Nuys Branch to a larger space at 8008 Van Nuys Boulevard, at the north end of The Plant Shopping Center. The new premises has plenty of free parking, many adjacent restaurants and retail shops, and is only three miles north-east of our prior branch.
The first day of business welcomed visitors to a creatively designed layout accented by colorful wall art, convenient conference rooms, and an open space plan. Staff greeted and assisted members with all their financial needs, the credit union said.
Separately, to help area homeless, 14 LAFCU employee volunteers served lunch to 365 hungry people at The Midnight Mission (TMM) in the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles. The volunteers also helped prepare food for that night’s dinner and LAFCU’s charity donated $3,000 toward the purchase of future nutritious meals.
Since 2006, the credit union has served 3,500 meals to the local hungry living on Skid Row, where one in three residents are homeless.
In addition, Marty Goodman, LAFCU VP of Marketing & Business Development, personally delivered 300 brand-new jackets to TTM. The jackets were donated by long-time LAFCU member Zaki Mustafa, through his 501(c)3 charity, “Transforming a Life,” and will be distributed to participants in TTM’s rehab program for use in the upcoming winter months.
Similar to TMM, LAFCU said it is dedicated to volunteerism through its charity, the Los Angeles Charitable Association, and maintains a strong commitment to support LA area charities and their efforts to provide direct services to the local community.
