MCU's Fernandes Appointed to CUNY Advisory Board

NEW YORK CITY - Corey Fernandes, Municipal Credit Union's Vice President of Business Development and Member Relations, has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the City University of New York (CUNY)’s Black Male Initiative (BMI).

Fernandes was appointed to a two-year term by CUNY BMI University Director Jermaine Wright in recognition of MCU’s continued support of CUNY programs as well as Fernandes’ role in bringing financial education awareness and programming to students throughout the CUNY network.

“CUNY BMI is thrilled to have Corey Fernandes join our Advisory Board," said Wright. “Corey brings a great wealth of knowledge and expertise in business growth and establishing and managing public-private partnerships to our Board and shares our vision of promoting diversity and inclusion in both business and society as a whole. We know his passion and commitment will help us achieve our goals and bring financial education and empowerment to the underrepresented students on CUNY campuses.”

Fernandes, a resident of Brooklyn, NY, joined MCU in 2005 as a Mortgage Loan Originator and became Vice President of Business Development and Member Relations in 2012. In this position, he leads MCU's efforts to promote financial education and empowerment in the communities which MCU serves. Fernandes and his team work with many public and private agencies on financial education-based programs, including the establishment of MCU’s Financially Fit program, which last year received a NYCUA Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award.
