BALTIMORE– MECU of Baltimore Inc. and the MECU Foundation hosted a reception for representatives of the CollegeBound Foundation, Credit Union for Kids and the nine elementary schools the credit union sponsors. The reception celebrated the longstanding partnerships MECU has shared with these organizations. It also provided a venue for MECU to present checks from the proceeds of the recent MECU Charity Cup Golf Tournament.
The MECU Charity Cup Golf Tournament was started 11 years ago by the board of directors to expand the credit union’s community outreach. They then established the Foundation and made it the recipient of the proceeds from the golf tournament. This ensured that companies supporting MECU’s outreach efforts would benefit from making contributions to a non-profit.
At the reception MECU awarded:
$10,000 to CollegeBound Foundation
$2,500 to Credit Union for Kids
$2,500 each to each of its nine partner schools
