MIT FCU Supports Angel Tree Program

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.MIT Federal Credit Union helped fulfill the Christmas wishes of 34 children in the Cambridge area through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides Christmas gifts to hundreds of thousands of children in the local community each year. Gifts are distributed to children 12 and under who may not otherwise experience the joy of Christmas due to financial struggle.

In addition, MITFCU collaborated with a non-profit organization, Community Tech Care Corporation (CTCC), to provide 364 items to My Brother’s Table, the largest soup kitchen in the North Shore. Items donated included socks, deodorant, toothbrushes, soap, etc. To learn more about My Brother’s Table visit mybrotherstable.org.

CTCC is the go-to source for those who are eager to learn more about technological resources available to them. Free hardware and software classes are taught by Microsoft professionals to students and adults who cannot afford the high price of a traditional technology school, the credit union said.

The mission of My Brother’s Table is to nourish the community on a daily basis with free meals and unconditional love. My Brother’s Table has been open for 13K consecutive days offering meals to everyone who comes to the door regardless of race, color, creed, or sex. The Community Tech Care Corporation also donated an additional 2,525 items including masks, toys, sanitizer, socks, coats, handwarmers, and gloves to My Brother’s Table.

All money donated to the Community Tech Care Corporation during the month of December will go towards additional donations items for My Brother’s Table.

“I am so proud of our team and the tenants in our building. It has meant a lot to me to see all of us come together and give back to the community in a way that is inspiring and meaningful. We wish all of you safe and happy holiday” said Rui Domingo, president and CEO.
