Member One Named Community Partner of the Year

ROANOKE, Va.–Member One FCU was awarded the Community Partner of the Year from the Community Youth Program (CYP) at its annual end of the year graduation and volunteer appreciation dinner.

CYP celebrated the graduating 8th grade students who are graduating from the youth program, volunteers, and community partners.

The mission of The Community Youth Program is to encourage learning and the development of a positive self-image and to provide a network of support for students in the 4th-8th grade and their families. CYP encourages students to become involved in their community.  Participants take part in service projects throughout the Roanoke valley and encourage students to become involved in their communities.

CYP assesses the potential recipients of their community partner award and look for the organization that really stands out. Member One has been a partner of CYP for the past three years and has become one of CYP’s most active community partners.

Member One participates in programs and events such as, CYP family nights where Member One employees help students and families open up youth accounts.  Member One sponsored a winter coat & shoe drive where students had the opportunity to pick out an item off their Christmas list. Member One also works with our kids on the Junior Achievement curriculum. Member One also supports the mission by providing sponsorship dollars for CYP event fundraisers, where funds help support CYP’s mission.

“To top it all off, you all are so patient with our students when we bring them to the [Member One FCU] main branch and show them how to properly make a deposit into their savings account,” said LeeAnn Reich, Executive Director of The Community Youth Program (CYP).
