Member One Names Payne as Market Executive

ROANOKE, Va.–Member One Federal Credit Union announced  the promotion of Stedman Payne to the newly created position of market executive for Lynchburg.

This announcement follows the recent news that Member One will be opening a new retail center in Forest, VA in the fall.
Member One sees these two significant events as further evidence of its commitment to the Lynchburg market, a market that is developing rapidly.
Payne has been employed by Member One since 2004. Originally a teller in the Salem retail center, Payne rose quickly through the organization. After leadership stints in the Rocky Mount and Westlake retail centers, he most recently spent six years as market leader of the Main Office retail center in downtown Roanoke.
Jean Hopstetter, Executive Vice President and COO of Member One, predicts that Payne will bring substantial influence to bear on the development of the credit union’s activities in the Lynchburg market.
“I have always been impressed with Stedman’s unwavering dedication to our members and the communities we serve,” said Hopstetter. “Throughout his career, Stedman has displayed outstanding leadership, and he has consistently delivered proven results. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have such a talented individual within our ranks.”
Indeed, Payne is no stranger to the Lynchburg area, having been raised in nearby Hurt, VA. According to Payne, that will stand him in good stead as he begins this next phase of his Member One career.
“I have always felt an affinity with Lynchburg and the surrounding area,” said Payne. “Returning to this community is something that my family and I are greatly looking forward to. I see so much potential in the market, and I hope to do my part in improving the financial lives of residents in Lynchburg and beyond.”
An enthusiastic volunteer in the community, Payne, a graduate of Leadership Roanoke Valley and a Rotarian, serves on the Board of Directors of the Harrison Museum of African American Art, the Board of Commissioners of This Valley Works, a committee for Children’s Trust, and in a trusted advisory capacity with American National University.
