ROANOKE, Va.—Member One Federal Credit Union employees have been participating in quarterly “Denim Days for Charities.”
Local organizations are chosen by Member One to receive monetary proceeds in exchange for employees having the privilege of wearing jeans on the specified Denim Day each quarter. The minimum amount employees must pay to wear jeans is $5; many of them typically contribute more.
The recipient of the second quarter Denim Day of 2016 was the Community Health Center of the New River Valley. Member One employees raised a total of $1,000. The Center has offices in Christiansburg, Va., and Giles County, Va.
Chief Executive Officer of Community Health Center of the New River Valley, Michelle Brauns, said that local donations such as Member One’s make it possible for the Center to provide services to low-income and uninsured populations who would otherwise be unable to receive much-needed medical attention.
The donation by Member One will assist the Center in continuing the mission of providing high-quality medical, mental health and dental services to everyone in the community regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
