ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. - The Metro East Chapter of Credit Unions Charity Committee presented a check for $6,264.94 to Wigs 4 Kids. The Metro East Chapter of Credit Unions encompasses 30 credit unions ranging from Detroit to Port Huron. The Charity Committee sought donations for Wigs 4 Kids in the credit union branches from members and staff during September and October.
“This is the third year that we have supported Wigs 4 Kids,” said Brenda Molinar, chair of the charity committee. “The generosity of our members and staff toward Wigs 4 Kids is amazing. We trust that our donation will help provide wigs for many children and build their self-esteem.”
Each year the charity committee selects a variety of charities to support. In 2016, they supported ARC of Macomb County, Race for the Cure (Susan G. Komen Foundation), Mercy Education Project in Detroit, school supply collection, Operation Care Package Michigan, Friends of Foster Care and Wigs 4 Kids. With an unexpected surplus of funds this year, the committee selected a wild card charity and donated $1,500 to Pets for Vets of Southeast Michigan last week. In 2016, the charity committee donated $31,646.42.
