Michigan Community Awards Forward Thinking Grant

JACKSON, Mich.--– Michigan Community Credit Union said its quarterly Forward Thinking Grant has been awarded to Hillsdale County ISD Great Start and Townsend Elementary Music Program. Hillsdale County ISD Great Start received $305 to help fund the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Project in Hillsdale County. The Imagination Library is a free book distribution program for all children, up to five years of age, in the Hillsdale County who are enrolled in the program. The goal of the program is to improve the literacy skills of young children. Townsend Elementary Music Program received $1,195.00 to upgrade thirty computers with the music software program, Music Ace, which provides a fun and comprehensive introduction to music fundamentals for beginning music students. Students participate in twenty-four engaging lessons and challenging games, and also compose and perform their own music. Music Ace focuses on the basics of pitch recognition, key signatures, basic ear training, the single staff and Grand staff, sharps and flats, and many more music basics.
