NEW YORK CITY -- MCU has awarded $66,000 in scholarships to college-bound graduating high school seniors: eight memorial scholarship grants of $5,000 each and 13 grants of $2,000 each. The scholarships were presented to the recipients by MCU President/CEO Kam Wong and Board Chair Sylvia G. Ash at a special reception at MCU’s headquarters.
The recipients of the memorial scholarships are Jocelyn Dicent, Abrielle Moore, Nicholas Nazario, John Hayes, Michailah Marshall, Michael DePass, Peter Manos, and Meagan Murray.
“Our scholarship winners exemplify the admirable and distinguishing traits of drive, dedication to education, and commitment to their communities,” said Ash. “I am very proud to be able recognize them for what they have accomplished so far. They will certainly go far in their endeavors, and I am pleased to know that our contribution to their education will help them to do so.”
Scholarship winners were selected based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, community service and involvement, letters of recommendation, and an essay expressing personal goals. The scholarships are part of MCU’s long-standing, larger corporate commitment to youth education across the greater New York City area.
“Education is the tool that propels individuals forward,” said MCU President/CEO Kam Wong. “We are so pleased to recognize these exemplary students and award them with scholarships that will help them continue their education and achieve their goals. We congratulate everyone who received an MCU scholarship or grant.”
