ARLINGTON, Va.—NAFCU has strengthened its advocacy and regulatory compliance teams with the recent additions of Allyson Browning and Gaurav Parikh as associate directors of legislative affairs and Stephanie Lyon, NCCO, NCRM as a new regulatory compliance counsel.
“Allyson, Gaurav and Stephanie have solid backgrounds in advocacy and regulatory compliance, and we welcome them to the NAFCU team,” said NAFCU Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt. “Their expertise and experience will help boost NAFCU’s success in championing credit unions’ concerns with lawmakers and regulators.”
Prior to joining NAFCU, Browning worked in the office of Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, as a legislative assistant. In that role, she served as a policy advisor and worked on legislative initiatives as well as met with constituents and outside policy groups on a regular basis. Browning is a graduate of University of Alabama.
Parikh was most recently director of state and local affairs at the National Restaurant Association, where he led the team in lobbying efforts aimed at state legislatures and city halls. Previously, Parikh was Director of Government Affairs at Witt O’Brien’s where he worked on financial services, telecom, and energy issues for a broad range of clients. Parikh is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Lyon comes to NAFCU from GEICO Federal Credit Union, where she worked as a risk management specialist. Lyon earned her undergraduate degree from Schreiner University and her law degree from The George Washington University Law School. During law school, Lyon interned at the State Department Federal Credit Union and was a law clerk at a corporate litigation law firm.
