LANSING, Mich.–Northland Area Federal Credit Union Chairman Mike Palumbo was named winner of the 2018 Howard Spencer Grassroots Volunteer Activist Award, which is named after his Northland peer Howard Spencer.
Palumbo received this honor for his political and legislative work within the credit union industry. The Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) presented the award at the state’s capital during the MCUL, 2018 Government Affairs Conference (GAC).
“It means a lot. To get the award that’s named after my best friend and mentor, who I’ve known since I started volunteering for the credit union, is amazing,” said Palumbo.
Palumbo plans to use the award as an example to help new board members understand the significance of prioritizing what is best for the credit union member.
