SOMERVILLE, Mass.– Naveo Credit Union collaborated with the Boys and Girls Club of Middlesex County (BGCMC) during August to be a donation site for their Back to School Supply Drive.
Naveo collected hundreds of much-needed school supplies, such as backpacks, notebooks, and markers, to help local low-income youth start the school year off on the right foot. Naveo was one of four collection sites for the drive, which expanded to include community partners for the first time this year.
Volunteers at BGCMC sorted the supplies and prepared individual backpacks filled with youth-specific supplies for distribution to the 100 youth on their first day at the Club. Any remaining supplies will be used to supplement the Club, which offers academic support via tutoring and reading help daily.
“No child should start the school year without the necessary school supplies. I'm very pleased that were able to partner with a local organization to provide the much-needed school supplies to children in our community. I'm grateful for the generosity of our members and their commitment to our philosophy of people helping people," commented Rui Domingos, Chief Executive Officer at Naveo Credit Union.
