New England FCU Supports 4 Organizations

WILLISTON, Vt.— Four times each year, New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) selects four recipient organizations at random to receive $625 each, for a total of $10,000 annually.

NEFCU’s community giving donations for the second quarter of 2018 were:

Vermont Fresh Network

VFN seeks to build a flourishing Vermont food and farm economy by advancing relationships among farmers, chefs, and consumers to grow markets and eat more locally grown food. NEFCU’s donation will go toward their Annual Forum Dinner, a fundraiser for the organization. Farmers and chefs from all across Vermont come together to prepare a grazing feast at Shelburne Farms. All proceeds go to continuing programming that helps bring more Vermont grown and raised food to the table.

Vermont Elite Basketball

The organization’s mission is to provide leadership, character development, and meaningful physical activity to the young men and women of the greater Burlington area through competitive, organized basketball. NEFCU’s donation will help subsidize player expenses such as registration fees, uniforms, equipment, and travel costs.

Spectrum Youth & Family Services

Spectrum strives to empower teenagers, young adults, and their families to make and sustain positive changes through prevention, intervention, and life skills services. NEFCU’s donation will sponsor the annual Empty Bowl Dinner.  Held each October, the Empty Bowl Dinner brings together guests who choose a handmade ceramic bowl to keep and fill with soups donated from several local restaurants. The event includes a giving board where attendees can “buy” program items directly for Spectrum’s clients, such as bus passes, school books, or winter clothes.

Ronald McDonald House Charities

The Ronald McDonald House Charities’ goal is to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families. NEFCU’s donation will sponsor the 6th Annual Jingle Bell Express in November—two days of festive, round-trip train rides from Burlington to Charlotte.
