WASHINGTON – The Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) announced that Floyd Rummel III, President/CEO of Northern Hills Federal Credit Union (Sturgis, SD) received the Hall of Leaders award during a ceremony held at the Credit Union House in Washington, DC on Sunday, February 27th. Jeff Olson, President/CEO of DakCU, presented the award.
Each year, the Credit Union House honors impactful credit union professionals with this prestigious recognition. The Hall of Leaders award is a unique and special designation that pays tribute to those who have made a significant impact on the credit union movement at the local, state, or national level.
“Floyd Rummel is only the second credit union leader from the Dakotas to receive this prestigious recognition, said Olson. “He has been a tireless advocate for credit unions in the Dakotas and across the country and has dedicated his career to serving as a volunteer in many capacities. His work to advance the industry has made a direct impact on South Dakota’s communities and families by ensuring they will always have access to affordable financial services,” he added.
DakCU nominated Rummel this year in appreciation for his many years of dedicated service. He has been engaged at nearly every level of the credit union movement, serving in leadership roles in the South Dakota League, SD Governmental Affairs Committee, and the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC). He was instrumental in combining the South Dakota and North Dakota Leagues in 2007 and served as the National Board Chair for Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union. Currently, he is serving as a DakCU South Dakota Health Benefits Trustee.
