NOTRE DAME, Ind.– Notre Dame Federal Credit Union donated $10,000 to the Kelly Cares Foundation today. Notre Dame FCU President/CEO Tom Gryp presented the check to foundation co-founder Paqui Kelly at the Notre Dame FCU Main Office.
Last month Notre Dame FCU competed against USC Credit Union (USCCU) in Southern California to raise money for local charities in the fourth annual $10,000 Charity Challenge. Notre Dame FCU won the challenge by generating the most credit card applications between Oct. 24, 2016 and Nov. 25, 2016.
Each credit union wagered $5,000 on the contest, with the winner taking all and donating $10,000 to the charity of their choice.
Notre Dame FCU’s charity of choice was the Kelly Cares Foundation, an organization that focuses on a variety of initiatives, including breast cancer awareness. Gryp said the area credit union values the Kelly Cares Foundations’ presence in the community, “Notre Dame FCU is thankful for the Kelly Cares Foundation’s programs and initiatives. This is just our way of supporting the hard work they do every day in the fight against breast cancer.”
The foundation is co-founded by University of Notre Dame Head Football Coach Brian Kelly and his wife, Paqui, who is a two-time breast cancer survivor.
