SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.–At least 20 individuals and families facing homelessness will soon be transitioning out of shelters and into a permanent, stable home this season following a $125,000 investment from Numerica Credit Union funded the effort, in partnership with eight regional nonprofits.
This donation comes through Numerica’s Home for the Holidays campaign.
“Giving families a key to their new home is one way Numerica is carrying out our mission of enhancing lives, fulfilling dreams and building communities,” said Carla Cicero, president and CEO of Numerica. “We know there’s no place like home for the holidays. Together with our nonprofit partners we are truly changing lives.”'
The year-end gift is allocated to homeless services organizations in Numerica’s four markets, including:
- Volunteers of America and Family Promise in Spokane
- St. Vincent de Paul and Safe Passage in North Idaho
- SAGE and Women’s Resource Center in Wenatchee
- Benton-Franklin Community Action Committee and Domestic Violence Services in Tri-Cities
“Without support from organizations like Numerica, nothing happens,” said Larry Riley, executive director of St. Vincent de Paul. “It personifies everything we do. Our mission is to take advantage of every opportunity, so we can help those around us be their best selves going forward. With support from Numerica, we’re able to work together for the betterment of thousands in north Idaho.”
Numerica said it continued on the holiday partnership after seeing its nonprofit partners respond to growing demands for support services throughout the pandemic. As emergency needs competed for limited funds, moving clients into permanent housing proved to be a struggle. This year’s gift will also support housing stability efforts as the partner nonprofit organizations work to keep vulnerable families from becoming homeless.
“During my 10 years with Numerica, I have been blown away by the generosity of our members giving back to communities in need,” Cicero said. “I get to see firsthand the impact Numerica’s year-end giving makes when families walk into their new homes.”
