EUGENE, Ore. – Assistant managers from eight Oregon Community Credit Union branches volunteered at Eugene’s Greenhill Humane Society to service its Animals in Disasters trailer, which had just returned from providing aid to animals displaced by the Cedar Creek Fire.
The OCCU volunteers spent two hours reorganizing, inventorying and cleaning the trailer.
Greenhill’s Animals in Disasters trailer brings food and other pet supplies to evacuation sites to care for animals until they can be reunited with their owners.
The OCCU volunteers took advantage of OCCU’s Community Outreach for Employees (CORE) Time program, which provides forty paid hours each year for staff to volunteer at local nonprofits. Their work will ensure that Greenhill Humane Society is prepared to offer its services for the next wildfire season and beyond, the credit union said.
