INKSTER, Mich.--One Detroit Credit Union celebrated the grand opening of its new mini branch.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held at the Booker Dozier Recreation Center, welcomed community members, local officials, and leaders who
came together to celebrate the city’s first financial institution in over seven years.
The event drew remarks from key leaders, including Inkster Mayor Byron Nolen, Larissa
Richardson from Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib’s office, community advocate Dr. Fleda Fleming,
and One Detroit Credit Union executives Hank Hubbard (CEO) and Portia Powell (CXO and
incoming CEO). Speakers highlighted the importance of restoring financial services in
underserved communities and the role this new branch will play in creating economic
opportunities for Inkster residents.
For 90 years, One Detroit Credit Union has served as Detroit's community financial institution
with a mission to impact and change lives. As a non-profit, member-owned institution, One
Detroit has offered credible, fair, and reasonably priced financial products and services to the
Detroit community, with special concern for those overlooked by the mainstream banking
system. The opening of this branch will offer convenient access to financial products and
personalized services catered towards residents, holding an emphasis on their needs.

In a special gesture of community support, One Detroit Credit Union presented a $2,500
donation to the Inkster Police Department’s Shop for a Cop program, a holiday initiative that
spreads joy by supporting families in need.
