Oregon State CU Promotes 2 People

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Financial industry veterans Denise Rundell and Patrick Schmerber have been promoted within Oregon State Credit Union to Branch Manager positions in Newport and Woodburn, respectively,

Denise Rundell

Rundell, who is in her 20th year with financial institutions, was just months into her Assistant Branch Manager post in the credit union’s new Lincoln City branch when she was named to lead the well-established Newport location at 1923 North Coast Highway. She has had three other branch management positions in her career spanning Oregon, Wisconsin and Maine. Her Oregon stops have included Washington Mutual, First Community Credit Union in Florence, and Oregon State Credit Union since August of last year.

Rundell, a 1996 Business Administration graduate of Oregon State University, is already immersed in the Newport community with the credit union’s significant role in the Chamber’s annual Seafood and Wine Festival just concluded. She also volunteered within the Newport High School boosters group to help coordinate a Big Band Fiesta featuring the school jazz band and the Yachats Big Band. She has also been a long-time volunteer for the Oregon Women of Timber annual auction in Eugene.  

Schmerber moves up from Assistant Branch Manager to lead the Woodburn branch located in the Safeway store at the corner of Mount Hood Highway and Highway 99E. He is entering his 10th year with Oregon State Credit Union advancing into management after seven years as a Financial Services Consultant.

The 2005 University of Oregon graduate in Spanish is fluent in the language spending stints as an English teacher in Mexico and Costa Rica after college.

He has been a strong advocate for the credit union industry throughout that decade and will be taking on membership with the Woodburn Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club as well as getting involved in additional community events.
