Orion FCU's Weickenand in Top 10 In U.S. For Fundraising

MEMPHIS, Tenn. —Daniel Weickenand, CEO of Orion Federal Credit Union, has been ranked in the top 10 in the nation for his fundraising efforts supporting the American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink Campaign.

Daniel Weickenand

Weickenand, ranked 1st in the Memphis market and 9th nationally, raised $43,598 during October to support the American Cancer Society's breast cancer initiatives, including innovative research, patient services, and education around screenings and risk reduction.

Weickenand and fellow Memphis Real Men Wear Pink ambassadors placed third out of 245 cities nationwide in fundraising efforts.

“I have chosen to participate because my mother passed away at the age of 60 from a cancer that I understand is very curable today,” said Weickenand. “Unfortunately, I know several individuals who have been impacted by breast cancer, including my family, so anything I can do to assist with this great cause is an honor.”

The Real Men Wear Pink campaign recruits male business and community leaders to unite as ambassadors in the fight against breast cancer. Community leaders around the nation use the power of pink to raise awareness for the cause. As a Real Men Wear Pink candidate, leaders commit to: wearing pink throughout October, raising funds to support breast cancer research, and building awareness for the cause through their personal and social media networks.
