RIVERSIDE, Calif.– Hangar 385, a volunteer-driven hospitality service at March Air Reserve Base that assists military personnel deploying to or returning from war zones, recently received a large donation of peanut butter and jelly and other snack items from Altura Credit Union on behalf of its members and the public.
Altura set up collection stations at each of its 10 Riverside County branches and its headquarters building during April to assist Hangar 385 in its mission for the troops. The collection drive, which was extended by popular demand, gathered enough donated non-perishable food goods to fill a large cargo van.
The familiar peanut butter and jelly sandwich has been a tradition at Hangar 385 on the March Air Reserve Base since 2004. The PB&J provides a touch of home for troops about to enter a war zone, or just returning from one. Sandwiches are made and delivered by the all-volunteer staff.
