CAMP PENDLETON, Ca. – Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU) is continuing its long-time sponsorship and volunteer efforts at Camp Pendleton Armed Services YMCA’s (ASYMCA) weekly barbeque event, called Concrete Beach.
In partnership with the School of Infantry, the ASYMCA hosts Concrete Beach for students in the Infantry Training Battalion and Marine Combat Training Battalion. These Marine students enjoy a grilled hotdog lunch provided by Pacific Marine Credit Union and served by employee volunteers. Each week, up to 200 Marines are served and proceed to enjoy a day of recreational contests, fun and prizes.
The Concrete Beach program was created to increase student and instructor morale, as well as to provide some much-needed time for students to relax. It also allows instructors to have some additional free time to plan future training for the students.
“Pacific Marine Credit Union has been sponsoring and volunteering at the weekly Concrete Beach events for many years,” said Bill Birnie, President and CEO of Pacific Marine Credit Union. “Each week brings new faces and a new opportunity to support and serve our military personnel in a really fun and unique way.”
