Partner Colorado Celebrates Juntos Avanzamos Designation

ARVADA, Colo. – Partner Colorado Credit Union celebrated its Juntos Avanzamos (Together We Advance) designation with mariachis, cultural dancers, a flag ceremony, food and more.

Partner Colorado Credit Union is the first credit union in Colorado to receive this honor, which is a special designation given to credit unions that demonstrate a vision and commitment to serving the Hispanic community by providing education and services that improve financial well-being.

“We are honored and extremely excited to be recognized for our efforts in serving the Hispanic community in Colorado,” said Melissa Sierra, senior business development director for Partner Colorado. “This designation affords Partner Colorado the opportunity to continue to build trust in the Hispanic community and gain support from new partnerships,” said Sierra.

Nearly 100 people attended the event including representatives from the Consulate of Mexico, Mi Casa, the Mountain West Credit Union Association and the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions.

“Latinos generate an estimated $1.3 trillion into the economy each year, however Latinos are one of the populations financially most underserved with twenty percent unbanked,” said Pablo DeFilippi, Vice President of Membership and Business Development for the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions. “As a result, many Hispanics are forced to use expensive and abusive financial services providers,” he said.

“We want the Juntos Avanzamos designation to be recognized by Hispanic consumers as a symbol of trust, a way for people to feel assured that financial institutions such as Partner Colorado are welcoming and friendly to their needs, speak their language and offer a full array of affordable products and services,” DeFillipi said.
