Peach State Awards Scholarships

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.– Peach State FCU has awarded two Clarke County high school seniors the Pomeroy Woods Legacy Student Scholarships.  Mariah Sadé Isbell, Clarke Central High School and Xavier Arnold, Cedar Shoals High School will each receive $2,500 to assist with their college education costs.

The Pomeroy Woods Scholarships were created in honor of the lifetime achievements of Janet Pomeroy and Pearlie Woods for their commitment and dedication to the credit union and the citizens of Clarke County.  Each year, Peach State awards these scholarships to two Clarke County high school seniors on the basis of financial need, academic credentials and a demonstrated commitment to community service.

The Pomeroy Woods Scholarships were established in 2010 when Clarke Community Federal Credit Union merged with Peach State.

Separately, Peach State FCU announced the winners of its scholarship program, designed to honor the credit union’s founders, as well as past and present board members and employees.  Scholarships were also awarded in honor of the lifetime achievements of several notable school system and community leaders.  This year, Peach State awarded $129,500 in scholarships and educational grants.

“Peach State began as an education-based credit union, established to serve the needs of community educators. These scholarships maintain that connection with our heritage.  As the credit union continues to grow so too does our commitment to the communities in our service area,” remarked Peach State President/CEO, Marshall Boutwell.
