Peach State Donates to Food Pantry

WATKINSVILLE, Ga.–Peach State Federal Credit Union has made a donation to the University of North Georgia’s (UNG) on-campus food pantry as part of its commitment to donate to local food banks throughout the year. The credit union collects food donations from members and employees in all their branch locations as well as their corporate headquarters.

“Nigel’s Nest” is an on campus food pantry available for all UNG students, faculty and staff from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Bishop Hall (room 728). The pantry has non-perishable food items, but also provides hygiene products, household items and school supplies. A valid UNG identification is required to utilize the food pantry.

“Students who are going to school full-time and having to pay for their own education, as well as other life expenses, will sometimes skip meals in order to get by financially. We don’t want a student to have to choose between eating a meal or paying for their rent,” said Justin Earnest, a counselor at UNG. “Anything we can do to help alleviate unnecessary stressors such as these will help our students to be more healthy and successful in the long run.”
