PENSACOLA, Fla.–The Friends of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization facilitated by Pen Air Federal Credit Union (Pen Air), presented a check in the amount of $50,000 to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society of Pensacola.
Funds were raised during the 22nd Annual Friends of the NMCRS Charity Golf Tournament held at Scenic Hills Country Club in Pensacola, Fla.
To date, the local community has helped raise more than $550,000 to further the mission of NMCRS at Naval Air Station Pensacola. For twenty-two years, the credit union has hosted an annual charity golf tournament to raise funds on behalf of the society who is unable to solicit their own funding. The Pensacola society is highly ranked in the nation for receiving the most financial support by its community.
“Pen Air plays a vital role as a community partner supporting Pensacola’s military families,” said Joy Barnes, director for the local Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. “Thanks to the generous support of Pen Air Federal Credit Union, the Navy-Marine Corps. Relief Society can provide much needed financial assistance and education to our service members in their desperate times of need.”
The funds given will be used to support the emergency financial needs of our local military and help fund programs like the Visiting Nurse Program in addition to Quick Assistance Loans, Budget for Baby Workshops, Emergency Travel Loans, Education Assistance, Health Education and Post-Combat Support, Disaster Relief and Financial Assistance and Counseling.

The Navy-Marine Corps. Relief Society, established in 1904, serves to provide financial, educational, and other need-based assistance to active-duty and retired Sailors, Marines and their eligible family members and survivors. The organization helps service members improve their personal financial skills and encourages individual financial responsibility.
