PenFed Honored as Military Employer

TYSONS, Va.– PenFed Credit Union has been designated as the number two 2023 Military Friendly Spouse Employer and number nine Military Friendly Employer in the non-profit category by MilitaryFriendly.com.

The Military Friendly Company survey investigates and identifies the organizations whose commitment to serving the military and veteran community is comprehensive in scope and meaningful in terms of actual outcomes and impact.

"PenFed is honored to be recognized as a leading employer for the military community," said PenFed President/CEO and PenFed Foundation CEO James Schenck. "Since our founding in 1935, we have prioritized the national defense community and we will continue to recruit and hire veterans and military spouses."

As part of an ongoing commitment to hiring and supporting the military community, PenFed operates a Military Employment Program focused on every phase of the employment lifecycle for all members of the military community, including veterans, military and surviving spouses, wounded warriors and their caregivers, Reservists and National Guardsmen. 13% of PenFed’s employees have an affiliation with the military community as a veteran, family member or are serving in the National Guard or Reserves.

Schenck and 75% of PenFed’s board are veterans themselves.

In addition to spending 10% of its recruiting budget on hiring and retaining veterans and military spouses, PenFed partners with military employment organizations to enhance military employment efforts and provide career readiness training to military jobseekers.

Members of the military community interested in a career with a military-friendly company are encouraged to visit PenFed's Military Recruiting Webpage. The webpage allows members of the military community to join our military talent community and search for jobs based on their skillsets and experience using a Military Occupational Specialty code.

PenFed said it has a strong legacy of being a military-friendly company and donates up to 2% of its annual net income to charitable organizations
