BROOMFIELD, Colo.–Premier Members Credit Union (PMCU) has partnered with Colorado nonprofit Lincoln Hills Cares (LHC) to establish a scholarship fund to further its environmental education work with Denver youth who have been impacted by socio-economic disparities.
The fund is expected to connect over 150 kids to LHC’s programming over the 2023 Summer Season, providing them with education around outdoor recreation, natural sciences, the environment, and cultural history, the credit union said.
“The core of all sustainability work is rooted in the need to ensure a livable and equitable world for those coming after us, and Lincoln Hills Cares embodies this mission in such a unique and beautiful way,” PMCU Senior Sustainability Specialist Garrett Chappell said. “When these kids get their hands dirty and interact with the beauty of Colorado’s nature, they establish a deep and lasting understanding that not only is there space for them in the outdoors but that they are part of the solution to defend and preserve those spaces. Their experience with outdoor education is vital for the ongoing protection of our environment.”
