DULUTH, Ga.–The Georgia Credit Union League is pleased to congratulate Jeff Padgett on being honored as this year’s recipient of the Eloise Woods Distinguished Service Award, which honors an individual who has worked to advance cooperative finance for the benefit of Georgia citizens.
Padgett served on the Board of Directors for Richmond Community FCU for more than 34 years. He has been an active participant in advocacy activities including Hike the Hill visits in Washington, D.C., Hikes at Home, the Grassroots Academy and CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference.
“Jeff is a tireless promoter for credit unions,” noted Mike Mercer, president and CEO of Georgia Credit Union Affiliates. “He believes in the cooperative business model as being the best way to help working folks. Nobody has taken the role of Convention MC with more passion than Jeff. He’s always ready to get on the credit union stage.”
Padgett’s also lends his time and talents to a variety of civic endeavors. He was elected to chair the Richmond County Board of Education and is a charter member of South Augusta Pride and Progress as well as a Leadership Augusta graduate and member of the Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce. He is an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and retired from his position as Client Advocate at East Central Regional Hospital after 34 years of service.
