RCU Foundation Gives $150K to Public Library

RICE LAKE, Wis.–The RCU Foundation has gifted $150,000 to Rice Lake Public Library for its remodel and expansion project.

Royal Credit Union reported RLPL acts as a community center, with more than 120,000 visits annually. Programming is a priority for the Library, which seeks to break down barriers of access, and the library hosts an average of 10 programs each week. The remodel and expansion project will break ground Spring 2019.

“The Rice Lake Public Library works hard to connect all people to their community and the world beyond by promoting literacy, supporting lifelong learning, and ensuring free and open access to ideas,” noted Katherine Elchert, Library Director. “Thanks to the RCU Foundation donation, the Library will continue to be the essential gathering place of our community!” The Foundation's recent donation will cover the cost of the new multi-purpose room.

The RCU Foundation’s core purpose is to create a positive impact in the communities served by Royal Credit Union. The credit union has been part of the Rice Lake community since 1991.

“We are honored to support Rice Lake Public Library because their community focus and initiatives in continuing education and financial literacy fit with our goal to make a positive impact,” said Doug Olson, Treasurer/Secretary, RCU Foundation. The Foundation focuses on large-scale, capital projects that help build community and create the spaces where people come together.
