RTN FCU Sponsors 3 Health & Wellness Fairs

WALTHAM, Mass.— RTN Federal Credit Union is sponsoring health and wellness fairs at three Waltham schools this spring to spread the word on the importance of financial health. During the first fair at the Plympton Elementary School, RTN staff talked with parents and teachers, and handed out activity books to students. RTN is sponsoring two additional Waltham school health fairs—at the Kennedy Middle School and at Waltham High School on May 6. The sponsorship is in partnership with Healthy Waltham.

RTN said it is no stranger to the Plympton School and makes regular visits there as part of its Cents-ible Savers Club. This program is designed to encourage children to begin saving at a young age and to help them build first-hand experience with a financial institution. It is held at two other schools in Waltham. To participate in Cents-ible Savers, students in grades one to eight need an adult of 18 years or older to serve as a co-owner on an RTN savings account. The students then can make deposits to their accounts twice each month when a Credit Union representative visits the school.

“We want to help children develop healthy financial habits to last a lifetime, and our Cents-ible Savers Club is a great example of how the Credit Union empowers children and their families to save money,” says RTN Education and Financial Literacy Coordinator Kerri McLaughlin, CCUFC.
