OREGON CITY, Ore.— Rivermark Community Credit Union said it has donated $30,000 to Parenting with Intent, a Portland-based nonprofit that supports youth and families involved in the child welfare system, with the funding set to help sustain and expand the organization’s FLY financial education program.
Parenting with Intent said the donation will support FLY—short for Financial Literacy for You—a four-part program that combines financial education, coaching and direct support. Participants receive a stipend for each session they attend, can open savings and checking accounts with Rivermark, and work one-on-one with a financial coach over four weeks, with the option to continue that relationship after the program ends.
Rivermark AVP of Financial Wellness Kaity Wittig said the partnership reflects what can happen when financial institutions “lead with purpose,” adding that the program helps youth and families build financial knowledge, connect with coaches and apply those lessons through Rivermark’s specialized membership process.
Parenting with Intent said the program, launched in July 2024, has now reached its 10th cohort and served 68 young people. Development Director Chellie Dering said the partnership has become “transformational,” saying the organizations are proud of how far the initiative has come and the opportunity to expand its reach further.
