SUMTER, S.C.– SAFE Federal Credit Union has donated $20,000 to the Valley Isle Chapter of the Hawaii Credit Union League to directly assist victims of the Maui Wildfires.
The four-day fundraising effort took place from August 25-28 during which members, non-members, and SAFE employees collectively donated more than $12,000 through online and in-branch giving. SAFE added its own corporate contribution to bring the total donation to $20,000.
“South Carolina has seen its share of tragedy and can comprehend the impact a helping hand can have,” said President and CEO Michael Baker. “Credit unions embody a sense of family, making it SAFE’s instinctive decision to support our extended family in Maui.”
