RALEIGH, N.C.–The member-funded State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) Foundation, in conjunction with the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, has provided an interest-free construction loan of $660,000 to Gaston Residential Services (GRS), Inc. for a new apartment complex in Gastonia, N.C. Kimbrell Apartments, developed by GRS, is designed to benefit low-income individuals with disabilities. The initiative also received the support of the local community, campaign contributors and partnering affiliates to bring the project to fruition.
Gaston Residential Services is one of many non-profits that has received permanent construction financing from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency to build supportive housing projects for North Carolinians experiencing economic and social challenges. GRS has been serving Gaston County citizens for 40 years, helping individuals with disabilities become valued and integral members of their communities. The non-profit also provides Kimbrell residents access to resources and support services through its partnerships with a variety of community service providers.
