FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn.– In its continued effort to give back to communities and people in need, SPIRE Credit Union recently donated several hundred articles of clothing to 1 Mission. The clothing was contributed by employees, and were items previously purchased as corporate logo wear. The logos and names on the clothing are now outdated as a result of SPIRE’s charter change, and merger with Greater MN Credit Union in 2014.
The items were delivered to a mission group in Prior Lake, Minn. who will be delivering them to Juarez, Mexico in February, 2016. The clothing will all become baby diapers for families in need. 1 Mission is a community development organization, giving people living in poverty the opportunity to earn a house by serving in their community. The houses built for families come stocked with necessary things such as beds, sheets, kitchen wares, food, lamps, couches tables and clothing.
“Not only did our employees find a way reuse our corporate clothing, but they also found a way to improve the lives of others,” said Dan Stoltz, SPIRE President/CEO, “Our mission at SPIRE is based on improving lives. I’m so proud to work with a team who is so dedicated to upholding and supporting not only our local, but also our global community.”
