Sandia Laboratory FCU Helps Collect, Donate Turkeys

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—Sandia Laboratory FCU and Sandia National Laboratories teamed up to collect and donate 279 turkeys for New Mexicans in need this holiday season during their annual Take a (Frozen) Turkey to Work Day food drive.

SLFCU’s New Mexico branches in Albuquerque, Farmington, Edgewood, and Los Lunas served as drop-off locations for frozen turkey donations from credit union members, Lab employees, and others.

“Sandia Labs values the partnership with SLFCU for the annual Take a Frozen Turkey to Work Day food drive,” said Sandia Labs Community Relations Specialist Katrina Wagner. “The ability to donate turkeys at Sandia Labs as well as multiple branch locations makes it easy for our employees to participate, which is important to the community as inflation has increased food prices. I love this partnership because together we can increase the positive impact and help feed more families this holiday season.”

Turkeys collected in the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area were distributed to families in need through Roadrunner Food Bank, while turkeys donated in Farmington went to ECHO Food Bank. Turkeys collected in Los Lunas and Edgewood were distributed through agencies in each of their respective communities.

Additionally, the food drive was able to secure more than $5,000 in cash donations for the two food banks.
