TUSTIN, Calif.—Josh Smith, vice president of school and community relations at SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, has been named chairman of the Classroom of the Future Foundation board of directors, a nonprofit that brings together education, business and community leaders to promote innovation in San Diego County schools.
Smith was appointed June 25, succeeding Dr. Leighangela Brady following her retirement as superintendent of the National School District.
Smith joined the Foundation's executive board in 2024 and was named vice chair in 2025. In his role at SchoolsFirst FCU, he works with educators, school districts and community organizations to strengthen partnerships that support student success. The credit union said his appointment follows a planned leadership transition designed to ensure continuity for the Foundation.

As board chair, Smith will help lead the Foundation's efforts to connect educators with programs and community partners that foster classroom innovation and expand opportunities for students throughout San Diego County. “One of the strengths of the Classroom of the Future Foundation is the continuity of leadership that allows us to build on our momentum year after year,” Brady said. “Having worked closely with Josh throughout the past year, I know he brings a deep commitment to CFF’s mission and a collaborative approach that will serve the Foundation well.”
