Service CU Presents Donation to Veterans, Cuts Ribbon on New Branch

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. --- Service Credit Union President/CEO Gordon Simmons recently presented a donation to Veterans Count on behalf of the credit union members who have the Veterans Program Affinity Credit Card. Veterans Count Seacoast Chairman Greg Whalen accepted the check for the organization.

As part of Service Credit Union’s Veterans Program, 2% of the interest paid on the Affinity Credit Card is donated to the Veterans Count organization. Veterans Count provides critical and timely financial assistance and services when no other resource is available to veterans, service members and their families. This organization focuses on ensuring their dignity, health and overall well-being.

“As part of Service Credit Union’s focus of supporting military and Veterans, a continuing charitable donation to Veterans Count was a natural fit,” said Simmons. “We are proud that our members have supported this worthwhile organization.”

Service Credit Union and Veterans Counts recognize the many sacrifices made not only by our military and veterans every day, but also their families, and want to help ease any hardships they face.

Service Credit Union has a long storied history of helping the military and veterans since it first started on Pease Air Force Base in 1957. The credit union has donated gift cards to military families in New Hampshire and overseas for many years, partnered with the USO to bring Thanksgiving dinners to the soldiers and their families throughout Germany, and is a major sponsor of many events on military bases where it has branches.

Separately, Service Credit Union also recently opened its 52nd branch worldwide, 34th in New Hampshire and 15th in-store branch, expanding its presence in the state with its new Amherst Branch. The new full-service banking institution is located at 85 Route 101A inside Walmart in Amherst.

The branch features an Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) with video tellers and full ATM capabilities. The ITM will be available and open when the Amherst Walmart is open, typically 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
