Sikorsky CU Supports Dolly Parton Imagination Library

STRATFORD, Conn.– For a third year, Sikorsky Credit Union has donated $5,000 to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

The book-gifting program provides free books to children from birth until they begin school. Currently, there are 801 families enrolled in this community program in Stratford. Since the program started, a total of 19,721 books have been mailed to homes all across Stratford.

The Imagination Library was started in 1995 by singer Dolly Parton to provide books to young children. Dolly Parton’s mission was to foster a love of reading among preschool children and ensure that every child would have books - regardless of their family’s income.

Each month, registered children receive an age-appropriate book directly to their homes. Thousands of local organizations have embraced Dolly’s dream. The Stratford chapter is headed by the Stratford Education Foundation and began in 2019.

“We are proud to partner with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to provide children in our community with essential resources to set them up for success at an early age,” said President and CEO Vincent Ciambriello.
