Sikorsky Helps Town's BEST

STRATFORD, Conn.-- Sikorsky Credit Union has contributed to a mini-grant for Stratford Schools through the town’s BEST (Business Education Support Team) program.

Stratford’s BEST is designed to promote excellence by supporting teachers in their classroom efforts, and operates in many areas, from mentoring to scholarships. Sikorsky Credit Union is helping to fund the Mini-Grant Program, which has given Stratford’s teachers the opportunity to expand upon their creativity and enhance the educational experience for well over 50,000 students since its founding in 1987. Stratford ‘s BEST provides grants for innovative and outstanding projects that otherwise would not be funded.

The recipients for this mini grant were Robin Celentano and Renee DiMatteo of Chapel Street Elementary School.  Their program is called “Ready, Set, Goals,” and demonstrates the important payoff when students set and reach both short-term and long-term financial goals.  The program consists of a variety of activities emphasizing the importance of saving.
