Skyward CU Donates 600 School Backpacks

WICHITA, Kan.–Skyward Credit Union is giving back to the community it has served since 1941 with a donation of nearly 600 backpacks to the KAKEland School Supply Landslide. Skyward is collaborating with Textron Aviation Leadership Education and Development (LEAD). These backpacks will be delivered to KAKE-TV and then distributed to children in need.

“The credit union is pleased to participate with LEAD in supporting this program to help children as they prepare to return to school,” said retiring Skyward President Larry Damm.

The credit union added that many students don’t own a quality backpack and relatively high purchase prices often lead to a shortage of donated backpacks. Skyward saw this as an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children in the community.

Skyward Credit Union has been LEAD’s partner in this drive each year and always provides a substantial donation while serving as the prime collection point for our donated items. Skyward Credit Union’s donation of backpacks will make a huge impact for many students in our community.

KAKEland School Supply Landslide began in 1996 as a response to concerns expressed by area educators and parents about children coming to school without the supplies they need. Last year, School Supply Landslide distributed school supplies to more than 10,000 students in the community. Donations are being accepted at any Skyward Credit Union or
