TACOMA, Wash.—Sound Credit Union’s 2026 employee fundraising campaign raised $20,000 for Backpack Brigade, a Seattle-based nonprofit that provides weekend meals to children experiencing food insecurity.
Sound employees worked with business partners and local businesses throughout July to secure donations. Founded in 2014, Backpack Brigade partners with more than 100 King County schools and distributes more than 5,000 hunger-relief bags weekly.
“Our employees look forward to this fundraiser every year because it allows them to make a direct impact in their communities,” said Jennifer Reed, vice president of public relations at Sound. “Knowing this donation will help provide thousands of meals to local children makes us incredibly proud and is a perfect example of how Sound continues to stand with our community through all waves of life.”
“Sound Credit Union's partnership is a profound investment in feeding 2,800 children in our community,” said Nichelle Hilton, executive director of Backpack Brigade. “Right here, right now. We're so grateful to call them a partner, and part of the village it takes to make a difference in a child's life.”
