State Employees CU in New Mexico Supports Hospital

SANTA FE, N.M.—The employees and staff of State Employees Credit Union raised $25,000 for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN in support of the only Level 1 Trauma Center for children in the state of New Mexico, UNM Children’s Hospital.

This marks the 20th year that State ECU has chosen CMN to be its primary fundraising target—a decision directed by the credit union’s employees.

Through in-branch sales of baked goods and a State ECU credit union published cookbook, raffles, and other fundraising efforts, the State ECU Santa Fe branches were able to accomplish the feat in just six weeks this fall.

“Our staff has identified CMN as an incredibly important New Mexican resource for health and family welfare—and I congratulate all involved for their generosity of spirit,” said President/CEO Harold Dixon.

State ECU has focused on helping the charitable organization for 20 years, raising nearly $1 million over the years on behalf of CMN—and in conjunction with the Credit Union Association of New Mexico that amount is closer to $1.5 million.

“Helping sick kids (and their families) have a more comfortable and positive experience as they heal is an objective we can all get behind,” said Dixon, “no matter what else is going on in the country and world.”

Each year, a number of State ECU employees take tours of UNM Children’s Hospital—a great way to forge a strong bond to the CMN mission. “

This year, 20 of our staff members participated in a tour group at UNM Children’s Hospital and we gave them time off to do so,” said Deborah Norris Sparks, VP of Human Resources, State ECU. “The experience charges our employees up and creates a lasting connection.”
