HARRISBURG, Penn.–CrossState Credit Union Association (Association) has awarded Service 1st FCU Board Chair Steve Endress the Calvin H. Jackson Lifetime Achievement Award for the 2024 Credit Union Volunteer of the Year. Endress accepted the award at the association's fifth Annual Convention in Atlantic City, N.J. The Calvin H. Jackson Award recognizes a volunteer who has selflessly given time, effort, and talent to the betterment of credit unions.
According to the association, Endress has dedicated over 25 years as an active volunteer to guide Danville, PA-based Service 1st FCU, serving in numerous positions on its board and supervisory committee. He sets the pace for other directors, credit union committee members, and aspiring volunteers through continued credit union education and certifications.
“Endress leads by example, epitomizing Service 1st FCU’s core values of importance of people, best people, integrity and ethics, fun, and support of community,” the association said. “He contributes to credit union initiatives by actively volunteering to help at Going Gold events, Magic of the Season, and Service 1st FCU’s Annual Charity Duck Derby and Annual Charity Golf Tournament.”

Through the COIVD-19 pandemic, Endress was instrumental in developing and implementing procedures, safeguards, and guidelines for the protection of Service 1st FCU employees and members. He worked closely with credit union directors and leadership team members over the years to grow and evolve efforts financially, interpersonally, and digitally to ensure Service 1st FCU remains a strong financial institution in the marketplace it serves.
The Volunteer of the Year Award is named in memory of Calvin H. Jackson, an outstanding citizen and credit union volunteer for St. James A.M.E. Church Credit Union. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a volunteer who has selflessly given time, effort, and talent to the betterment of the credit union movement with little or no monetary compensation.
