MEDFORD, N.Y.–Suffolk Federal recently presented a total of $20,000 college scholarships ($1,500 each) to 10 local high-school seniors. In addition, one student, Jade Dyer-Kennedy received an additional $2,500 scholarship provided by the LT Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation, which was matched by Suffolk Federal along with a $750 scholarship provided by the New York Credit Union Association for a total of $7,250.
Recipients were judged based upon their academic achievements, extracurricular and community activities as well as the quality of written essays.
“Supporting these worthy students by providing financial assistance as they undertake their college experience is one of the Suffolk Federal missions" said Suffolk Federal CEO Ralph D. Spencer Jr.. "In general, college without the additional financial burden is stressful enough. We are happy to know that the scholarships awarded by Suffolk Federal will help to alleviate some of that burden, so these worthy students can focus on their future educational and career goals."

Separately, Suffolk FCU, seeking to support the charitable work of local organizations that serve the areas of its branch locations, donated $1,000 to the Commack Fire Department.
“I am so humbled to be able to support our local firemen on behalf of Suffolk Federal, and honor the late Master Sergeant Christopher Raguso who volunteered his time to this community,” said Branch Manager Gail DiGiacomo. “Chris was a true hero in the Commack Fire Department and knowing the donation will help to train future heroes in his honor is just incredible.”
