Suffolk FCU Provides Support to Several Causes

SUFFOLK, N.Y.–Suffolk Federal Credit Union has recently provided assistance to several causes.

SFCU contributed $3,000 in support of Suffolk County Crime Stoppers. The Crime Stoppers program connects the residents of Suffolk County with local police departments to collect information that helps locate suspects and leads to necessary arrests.

“As a financial institution, I believe that addressing these crimes is not only a necessity, but a responsibility, as each instance ultimately has a significant impact on our organization,” said Ralph D. Spencer, Jr., president & CEO of Suffolk Federal and board member of Suffolk County Crimestoppers. “I urge all local financial institutions to support Crime Stoppers. Their work is a great benefit not only to our places of work, but also to the citizens in our communities.”

Suffolk Federal also recently hosted its 9th Annual Food Drive to benefit Helping Makes U Happy, a nonprofit organization located in Center Moriches dedicated to providing much-needed assistance to families in need. The organization has held projects including food drives, school supply drives, clothing drives and so much more. Through the generosity of its membership and employees, Suffolk Federal collected more than 628 pounds of food donations and an additional $275 in monetary contributions which will provide holiday meals to families in need.

“By partnering with Helping Makes U Happy, we are able to reach out to children and families suffering from hunger in Suffolk County,” said Spencer. “It’s our hope that all families in our communities will one day have enough financial security to provide their families with basic necessities like food and shelter.”

Finally, in an effort to support the charitable work of local organizations that serve the areas of Suffolk Federal branch locations, the credit union has identified nonprofit organizations to which to provide financial support. In Miller Place, Branch Manager Greg Bryan and Assistant Branch Manager Marie Morales presented a $1,000 contribution to the Miller Place Fire Department’s Chief Rich Schlude and James Bryant, along with Lori and Nick Aliano of AlianoReal Estate.

“The Miller Place Fire Department is a volunteer organization dedicated to helping our neighborhood,” said Bryan. “They support so many important causes all while providing the essential responsibilities of the fire department. They are a vital part of this community and we are thrilled to be able to help.”
