Suffolk FCU Supports 'I Matter,' Blessings in a Backpack

ISLANDIA, N.Y.–As part of its effort to identify non-profits doing charitable work in the areas served by its branches,  Nancy Aurora, branch manager for Suffolk FCU, presented a $1,000 contribution to the Central Islip Civic Council and its “I Matter” Project.

“The “I Matter” Project is a peer-peer art based youth empowerment program accompanied by declarations of each child’s self-worth,” said Aurora. “I believe in the program’s objective of enriching self-worth and self-expression, empathy and social engagement. It helps students recognize and identify emotions, thoughts and values and how they influence an individual’s behavior. At Suffolk Federal, we’re proud to be part of that.”

Separately, in Medford, N.Y.Branch Manager Megan Diehl presented a $1,000 contribution to Blessings in a Backpack of the Longwood Central School District.

“When I heard about the incredible work of Blessings in a Backpack, I knew I had to help,” said Diehl. “These are children in our neighborhoods that should only be concerned with what game to play next, not where their next meal is going to come from. At Suffolk Federal, we are extremely proud to make this donation in support of such a worthy cause.”
