ISLANDIA, N.Y.–At its branch here, Suffolk FCU in partnership with SUNation Solar Systems has had installed clean energy solar panels on its rooftop.

Spencer, Jr., president & CEO of Suffolk Federal.
Suffolk Federal said it will continue the installation of solar panels in specific branches and moving forward, will build upon ways to expand its use of renewable resources for its more than 59,000 members.
Separately, Suffolk Federal said it is offering a powerful, innovative resource to bring financial literacy and skills to adult learners with their new online financial education tool. The credit union said its Financial Empowerment: Online Workshop enables individuals of all levels to develop strong financial skill-sets to successfully take control and manage their finances in an effective manner. Participation in the program is free and available to the public.
Developed by EverFi, an independent, leading education technology company, this exciting online workshop features comprehensive, cutting-edge technology that incorporates video, animations, gaming and social networking to effectively teach complex financial concepts in a simple format.

The Financial Empowerment: Online Workshop learning experience is specifically designed for today’s busy adult, the credit union said. The mobile- and tablet-friendly platform features a series of online modules which take only minutes to complete and that cover such essential topics as Financial Basics, Major Life Transactions, Small Businesses, Paying for College, Planning for Retirement and Preventing Elder Fraud. The program is self-paced and contains knowledge checks that allow users to measure their accomplishments on an ongoing basis.
