LAKE JACKSON, Texas— TDECU–Your Credit Union here has made a $100,000 donation to the Cornerstone Credit Union League’s Cornerstone Foundation. The check was presented during the league’s Leadership Conference in San Antonio.
“Following Hurricane Harvey, many of our employees were impacted by the storms, and the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation jumped right in to offer much-needed assistance,” said Stephanie Sherrodd, TDECU’s president and chief executive officer, “The Foundation was instrumental to many credit unions in helping to ensure hundreds of credit union staff were lifted up, and as a result, able to return to work sooner than expected to assist credit union members through their own difficult times.
“The league and Foundation helped to rally support from across the country, and the overwhelming response from credit unions and system partners was felt directly by our staff,” added Sherrodd. “They were there for our employees when we needed it the most, and we want to help ensure that the Foundation is prepared to lift up credit unions again the next time disaster strikes.”
The Cornerstone Foundation distributed more than $2.1 million through more than 1,600 disaster relief grants to credit union employees and volunteers in Southeast Texas.
“This donation from TDECU was certainly unexpected and is absolutely much appreciated,” said Cornerstone President & CEO Caroline Willard. “The Foundation plays a critical role in helping credit unions with disaster relief, credit union development, and financial education. In our region, with the prevalence of fires, floods, tornados, hurricanes, and earthquakes, it’s critically important that we keep the Foundation well funded
